3D Custom Home Design Services

Our unique home building program begins with a fully customized designs. Like what you see on the HGTV, we start every project with detailed 3D plans. On your land or when a lot has been secured, we will generate a 3D image of the land and situate the home on it. Join the design team on your new custom home.

To Deliver affordable new homes, we have to be extremely efficent with both time and materials. In most cases, we construct our foundations using Superior Walls. Supperior Walls deliver strong, energy efficent, dry foundations.

Minimal Waste Practices

Most job sites need large rolloff waste containers to haul away the construction debris assoicated with a custom built home. We utilize smart-building practices, like factory stick framing, to keep site waste to a minimum. In most cases, our scrap can be hauled away in a small pick-up truck.  Minimizing waste is good for the budget and the planet.

Start Home Smart's Founder, Broker, and President, Danielle M. Calrson-Murphy, along with her partner, Brett Saso, have a combined 75 years of experience in real estate and home construction. Danielle and Brett started the "New Home Old Price" business model to address the ongoing housing crisis in New York's Hudson Valley Region. The Hudson Valley provided New York City residents an escape during the pandemic lockdowns. Spacious homes and sprawling backyards were in such demand that most listed properties ended up in a bidding war. The unprecedented home-buying frenzy caused home prices to skyrocket! In the Spotlight
Mountain View Estates Project

This modern country-style home is currently under construction in Gardiner, NY.  The 2,856 sq. ft. home was custom-designed by Start Home Smart and factory stick framed by Harvest Homes.  It features a large open Living Room, Kitchen, and Dining area. The driveway-facing (left) entrance enters a mudroom area with a large pantry and a separate washer/dryer room. The spacious front porch faces the world-famous Shawangunk Mountains and their amazing sunsets. The front entrance greets visitors with a grand staircase that reveals a 25' vaulted ceiling! The back of the home will have a huge 42' covered porch. The primary bedroom with an en-suite is also located on the first floor. The second floor has two large bedrooms with full en-suite bathrooms. At the top of the stairs is a reading area with a second-floor view of the mountains; from the reading area, you can open the double doors to the children's den, which also features a full bathroom. If you were not counting, this bathroom is one of the 4 1/2 bathrooms in the home. 

Despite the horrific spring weather, groundbreaking was on-schedule with the foundation excavation starting on April 2nd. Day two was a different story, with a powerful noreaster dumping several inches of rain and three inches of snow on the site. Mother Nature's fury was no match for good site planning and a Superior Wall foundation. Even though the freshly excavated foundation area was flooded with more than 12" of water, the 3/8" stone base provided a dry surface for the dig to resume on the 4th. To everyone's surprise, the foundation arrived and was set on April 5th!

Our Offices / Available Lots

We are located at 1537 Rt. 44-55, in the town of Clintondale. This location will soon be subdivided into seven 2-acre building lots. Reservations will begin in the fall of 2024.
